If urine is left it will create bacteria underneath the foam and continue to create odor for many years to come

urine in a mattress is also diificult due to the fact that urine contains uric acid and salt which forms crystals. When the crystals get moist or warm they expand and let off that foul urine odor

Some people recommend you use vinegar to  neutralize the urine stains however vinegar does not destroy the uric acid so it is NOT EFFECTIVE.
